Hemoclip - an endoscopic instrument for fast and reliable bleeding control

Hemoclip

In the practice of surgeons, bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract is common. There are several methods of treating this complication. One of them is the application of a hemo-clamp.

Hemoclip is a medical instrument compatible with flexible endoscopes. It is used mainly for gastroscopy or enterocolonoscopy. It consists of a handle and a head with branches that can be opened 90°. The ability to open and close is important when it comes to repositioning.

The endoscopic hemoclip can rotate 360°. This allows for precise positioning and application of the clamp. The instrument has a smooth body that does not damage the endoscope channel. For optimal compatibility with endoscopic instruments, the length and diameter of the instrument must be taken into account.

The main indications for use are to ensure hemostasis (bleeding control) in such pathologies:

  • Bleeding ulcers.
  • Mucosal or submucosal defects that are less than 3 cm in diameter.
  • Polyps <1.5 cm.
  • Diverticula of the large intestine.

In addition, the hemo clip applicator is used as an additional method for perforations in the gastrointestinal tract (< 2 cm) or for endoscopic marking.

The use of a hemo-clamp avoids suturing or more traumatic surgical intervention if small blood vessels need to be tied up. During an X-ray examination, it helps to mark body structures.

When applying an endoscopy hemoclip, hemostasis is quickly and reliably ensured, and the risk of rebleeding is significantly reduced (about 8%). The advantage of this method of stopping bleeding is safety, as the tissues and walls of the organ are not damaged.

Hemoclips Alton Medical are suitable for use with most flexible endoscopes and can be used to stop various types of bleeding.

Disposable hemoclip - convenience and safety of use

disposable hemoclip

Endoscopic Hemoclips are in constant contact with blood, so the risk of infection transmission from one patient to another remains very high. To avoid this, surgeons prefer to use disposable hemo-clamps.

In addition, the absence of sterilization avoids damage to the instrument, its mechanical wear, and loss of its basic properties.

Disposable hemoclip does not need to be disinfected before endoscopic examination, as it is supplied in sterile packaging. This reassures patients and saves the surgeon time, and the medical facility does not need to purchase additional sterilization equipment.

With a single use, the quality of the instrument remains high throughout the endoscopic examination; after bleeding has stopped, the hemostat must be disposed of.

Disposable endoscopic hemoclip Alton Medical is made of durable metal (stainless steel), which is resistant to the damaging effects of biological substances (acid, blood) and mechanical stress (opening and closing of the head, rotation of the instrument).
