Endoscopy instruments (injection needles, flexible scissors, grasping forceps, basket retrieval) can be reusable or disposable. Although disposable equipment seems more expensive at first glance, this is not always the case. To compare the cost of purchasing instruments, the cost of sterilization, disinfectants, and autoclaves must also be taken into account.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

However, the main advantage of disposable accessories for endoscopy is not the cost, but the prevention of infections. The possibility of infecting other patients, if one of them is a carrier of the disease, is a serious problem in modern endoscopy. Even 3 stages of disinfection (soaking in a disinfectant solution, mechanical treatment with brushes, and steam sterilization at high temperature) only reduce the risk of disease transmission, but do not eliminate it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
